27 December 2006 cheers mate
I'm back! Really glad to be back and hear so many familiar voices(: Ok, I need to go sleep now. It's actually 6am in nz now so technically, I didn't sleep for one whole day but whatever. Just no jet lag please. The flights were ok except for the turbulence. It came while we were approaching Singapore and I could see flashes of light outside. It was quite scary to think that lighting can strike the plane any moment (choy!) But I presume the plane has like adequate prepartions to prevent that from happening. I always said I loved flying because of the in flight entertainment, and the food and being above the skies. But, I'm beginning to dislike flying because its really uncomfortable to sit for so many hours. And I hate the hassle of transitting. And the recycled air in the plane makes it extremely uncomfortable. It's like preparing for war because I'm armed with a bottle of moisturiser and two types of lip gloss in my bag. Of which, my lips still cracked and I have fresh zits >_< Anyways, I hope to blog again with the photos. But I took like 4gb of photos and its going to be extremely difficult to transfer to my computer, considering that I have less than 2 gb of free space. Anyhow, really exhausted. Btw, Scrurbs is extremely funny. I'm about 3/4 through the first season and its an awesome show(: Also, I caught Volver starring Penelope Cruz and its a good movie though. I also watched Woody Allen's Scoop which was terrible): 20 December 2006 from middle earth
I'm at Wellington now. Since the day I stepped into nz, this is the first day that I have seen more people than sheep. Also, I finally departed South Island, which means that there is only 6 more days before I'm back home! I'm really enjoying myself despite some problems, but I miss home so much. I miss the food, the air, the people, the smell of my pillow, chicken rice, wanton mee, mee pok ta, cha siew pau, hor fun, ban mian, masters milk... I tell you, when I'm back in Singapore, I'll eat chicken rice for a month and NOT eat fish and chips for a year (as if). Anyhow, the weather here is freaking cold. It's summer but every night we turn on the electric blankets and the heater to the maximum temperature:S And the air is so dry, my skin is cracking such that I can't make sudden movements because it will hurt:S And we travel for so many hours just to get to one destination. For the whole of South Island, we traveled for about 3100km. Which means, at 100 km/h (the maximum speed on the highway), we have spent at least 31 hours in the car! And since half of the roads are windy, the average speed is around 65 km/h which means we spent about ... you do the math(: Just now, we went out looking for dinner and we settled into this Chinese restaurant. I nearly teared when I saw they had Hainanese chicken rice! And then I nearly teared again when they said they don't have it anymore :S The fact that we are in North Island now means that I can get online more often for there are more hotspots in the city areas. (The north is more populated than the south) Tomorrow, I'm departing Wellington to go to Napier and then 2 more nights in Rotorua and another 2 more nights in Auckland before I fly back. Another thing is I'm going to be in Auckland during Christmas when all the shops will be closed and the city will be like a ghost town. How dumb:S Also, the shops here close around 5pm even though it only gets dark at around 9-10pm during summer. So, if we arrive at a city/town/village in the evening which we usually do due to the long hours of traveling in the car, we arrive to a dead place:S Even though I really am loving nz and enjoying myself, I can't help feeling this trip is a wasted one. We spent so much time traveling and before we can soak up the atmosphere of any place, we have to leave. Trying to tour nz in 17 days is just terribly ridiculous and I wonder why I suggested nz in the first place. On the other hand, the idea of traveling for my parents and I are completely different. My parents just want to drive to said destination, come out of the car, take photo and go back into the car. Which to me seems really distasteful. I would rather prefer to travel less and use the time to get to know the culture, the people and their way of life. I can always say that it doesn't matter because I'm not paying for this trip, but the fact that I traveled so much, just to attain a fake impression of this beautiful place just seem extremely vulgar. Anyways, I'm truly thankful to my parents for bringing me here. Anyhow, nz is truly an amazing place and I would recommend to anyone to come here! So what have you all been doing? Found a job? Christmas party? You can sms me, and I'll reply through a nz number. (We bought a pre paid card 'cos its cheaper even though we all have auto roam) I've been chatting with wenz and germs a little and its quite difficult because of the time difference. Oh, and because of the time difference, I'll be celebrating Christmas before you all do! (Although the fact that Auckland will be close to dead means that there isn't really any kind of Christmas to celebrate. I don't even think the churches are open to go for mass) Oh, I gotta go. Another time(: PS: Can somebody please tell me if Adam Brody dumped Rachael Bilson for Ashlee Simpson? I saw the "news" on a nz tabloid and I need to know badly! Also, why isn't there new eps of Greys??!! ALSO, DVDs here are cheap. I bought Season 1&2 of Scrubs because I missed watching it on TV. And, its like really cheap (about SG$40 per set). Except the fact that I have to watch on His Highness' lappie due to the different region code. And the average movie on a DVD cost less than NZ$20 which is approximately SG$22. If DVDs were that affordable in Singapore, piracy wouldn't be such a problem! Although their music CDs are pretty expensive, about SG$33. Lol, I really gotta sleep because its 12am in nz now even though its only 7pm in Singapore(: 17 December 2006 nz log(:
Hey y'all. There's wireless internet here for $2 for 30 minutes, which is actually the cheapest that we have found so far. Anyhow, we are at Twizel now, which is a town near to Mount Cook. The motel that we are staying is actually a very comfortable place. I'm really enjoying myself now. The only thing I dread is the long driving times (not that I drive, I just sleep in the car) Even though I'm enjoying myself tremendously, I wished I was back home. I missed Singapore food already. Every meal here is Western Food): And there are lots of Fish and Chips. In addition, I also missed the busyness of Singapore. The pace of life here is very slow, which is good if I'm retiring, but its WAY too slow and I'm an impatient person. We watched lots of news while we are at the motel and there's a case of a serial killer going around killing prostitutes in UK. And the news channel kept interviewing criminologists and the criminologists keep talking about criminal profiling. So detective fiction! And also, last night, I caught American Psycho on TV. And because I thought it would be scary, I made His Royal Highness sleep on the same bed with me as I watch. He only went back to sleep after the movie was over. Actually, the movie isn't even scary, but I'm a timid person I guess. And also, since young, I always go find His Royal Highness when I watched scary movies. So glad he's around. And I'm such a loser. Lol. Anyhow, I would love to blog about my NZ but it's difficult to blog without photos. I took tons of photos already. Can't wait to get back! Anyway, I miss you guys load. And I still have 15 more days to go!): Ok, till another time(: PS: I also miss Pink Is The New Blog, Grey's Anatomy and the constant access to the INTERNET.PS: I typed this days ago but didn't have a chance to post it. Anyhow, I'm in Queenstown and its absolutely amazing here. The city just has a magical feeling. Haha, will be back soon(: PS: For some weird reason, this entry wasn't posted. I'm at Franz Josef Glacier village now. to be continued(: 09 December 2006 Pop thy ears
Hey, I'm here in Sydney. Flight to Christchurch is in one hour and i have nothing to do except er, sleep. Anyways, the flight was horrible. Now usually, I love travelling in planes because of two main reasons, the in flight entertainment and the food. Anyhow, because of the time difference, i had dinner at 10pm and breakfast at 1am. And I slept a grand total of 30 mins for the whole "night". But its all good, im really looking forward to gettng to Christchurch(: I watched Lucky Number Slevin which starred Josh Harnett and he was yummy. Yummier than my meals on the plane(: And Little Miss Sunshine which was pretty good, but I'm ashamed to admit that I liked Lucky Number Slevin more because of the eye candy :S I wished I had yiwen's crazy ability to sleep really odd hours because I think I'm going to get jet lagged. And I wished Germaine was here with me because there's like ang mohs whereever I turned. Ok, will blog again if I have the chance. I want to go read Trent now(: 08 December 2006 Leaving on a jetplane
Hey y'all. I'm at the Changi Airport now killing time. I'll be flying to Sydney then to Christchurch. I have auto roam so you can sms me if you want to. Lol. I can't believe im missing the 4/2 chalet): Oh wells, hope you all have fun. Maybe next time. I'll be back on the 26 Dec at night. Prom was initially a terribly boring experience. Until we got to taking pictures. That was rather fun until I er, had gastric. Haha, that was really dumb. Ok gotta catch the plane. Later(: ps: I'm SUCH a boring person. Do you know how many entries I have with the exact same title? (Well, actually I don't know:S) 07 December 2006 Prom
Here are the photos. I'm not going to add captions to all of them because I've already spent a lot of time editing them (half the photos were blur because I didnt know how to use my new camera :S) Anyhow, I'm flying off in less than 24 hours and I still have about a million things to do!): Oh, and if you want any of the images in their original size and state, you'll have to find me on msn before I leave or wait till I'm back I guess . Cam whoring![]() This photo is hilarious. It was quite spur of the moment and everyone was about to leave the hotel room because we were running late. Haha(: I usually don't take pictures with flash. This one was accidental and it was the only clear photo I had with wenz :S![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ACT CUTE! Lol, naturally cute!(:![]() ![]() Class leaders!(: Hi yiwen!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Room mates! I'm really glad we managed to get a room, and a cheaper rate too since we booked it earlier. And thankfully, everything went without a glitch though yiwen had to sleep in a really uncomfortable position for a while):![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ok. i need to pack my stuff now.
