21 October 2006 the importance of being idle
So I was chatting online with my Dad just now through Gmail's chat and it was such a weird experience. I had to resist typing "lol" and "(:" because it would make absolutely no sense to him. Generation gap I guess. Lol. It's funny how I listen to Oasis so much nowadays. I first started listening to them during the period when they had a concert in Singapore. I never really liked them before so I never intended to fork out money for that concert. But nevertheless, I kept playing their songs and since then, Oasis' songs have become my most played songs. Oh, and they are good study music too! I started making study-friendly playlists because I HAVE to listen to something when I study. But I couldn't just play all my songs in random because some of them are rather noisy and distracting. So here are my favourites:
And the only Grey's Anatomy-related thing I did today was to read the episode recap on their official website. Damn, I'm proud of myself for not spending too much time on Grey's. (But I waste it by blogging) And wasting time in browsing Amazon. I've so many things I want to buy. Hey, Christmas is coming soon. Let me give you some gift ideas for me!(: I want:
14 October 2006 "Why do I keep hitting myself with a hammer? Because it feels so good when I stop."
Just now I was listening to 93.8 and I heard that according to the WHO, 1 million people commit suicide annually around the world. And that is a higher amount compared to deaths from homicides and other disasters, wars etc. (I'll try to find another source on this matter) Wow, thats quite a lot right? In addition, in rural areas, women have a higher tendency to resort to suicide compared to men. The report cited reasons such as abuse by their husbands and difficult living conditions as major causes. Also, poisoning from pesticides is the most popular method to end one's life (probably in the rural areas). And apparently to curb this problem, the authorities have employed measures such as keeping the pesticides under lock so that it is not readily accessible to commoners (or women in this case). Ok, I find the last sentence very very strange. My hearing is rather bad (but not as bad as Jia Ling's (: ) Well anyway, I don't think this is the proper way to minimise suicide cases. On the other hand, in the UK there is a rising number of men who resort to suicide. The main cause of suicide for this group of people is due to "men having a tendency to keep their emotions within themselves whereas women will most likely share their woes with their friends" Hence, men resort to suicide as a result of all the pent up emotions. Eh, that sounds really weird to me too. Oh, and in the UK, suicide is legal! So I was really curious and asked my Dad if suicide is legal in Singaporeand he said "of course not". Hmmm, a rather interesting issue to ponder about. Btw, correct me if im wrong. Anyways, McVet is gone! I'm so sad): I much prefer McVet to McDreamy anyday! Sigh, I didn't expect Meredith to make a choice so quickly into the season. But I did expect Finn to go since there were no news of the show extending his contract, in other words, he wasn't meant to be a permanent cast member. Btw, I was talking about Grey's Anatomy. It's one of the best shows EVER. I've been trying to figure out why I'm so hooked on this show. I was reading the comments on TV Squad and someone said that every episode has some "undeniable truth about human behaviour" And its so true! Even though people may tend to watch tv as a form of escape from reality, Grey's allow people to relate to the characters on the show and thereby attracting them to the show. Well at least its is true for me. The characters are sometimes so amazingly cool, but other times, they are just so flawed you want hit them on the head real hard. But it is because of their flaws that attracts so many viewers every week! Haha, I just can't help loving the way every episode is so beautifully crafted. Ok enough about the rant. I wanted to put some time into studying. But my Dad and his royal highness are watching football. (Man U is playing) And it is absolutely impossible to study when they are making such a din. Match's over. A Level's in 18 days): Take care of your health!(: 01 October 2006 one or the other
The other day I was on the shuttle bus and I overheard this rather interesting and cute conversation in chinese. Refering to the younger boy's fear of cockroaches, the elder boy said, "How can you be scared of cockroaches? Are you a guy? Guys are supposed to catch cockroaches for girls!" Unfortunately, my Mom and I are the ONLY ones who does the catching and killing of cockroaches in my house. Sigh. My Dad booked the flight to New Zealand so my trip is confirmed! I'll be away from 8-26 December. Whee! But I just received Haur Ming's message and there's going to be a 4/2 chalet from 20-22 Dec. Sigh. 1 more month to A Levels and I'm a wreck as you can tell from this totally messy entry. Sigh. |
