going once, going twice, gone!
After about four years of blogging here, I've decided to move on to Wordpress.

This site will still remain as it is for I cannot bear to delete it though it will not be updated anymore.

Good times, Blogger.

a secs ago (pardon my grammar)
Hello. Here are two reasons why I haven't been blogging recently:

1) My com died. As in permanently died. Now, for those who know, my previous com was always dying. But this time, it got serious, decided that seven years of existence was WAY too much and died on me. So here I am, with my previous previous old old com which is filled with files from 2005. And hence, I have to upgrade all the programs etc.

Oh, talking about upgrading programs, please do NOT leave me offline messages on MSN. I can't read them because I am NOT using Windows Live Messenger. And that's because since version 7, MSN hasn't been bothered to cater to people using Windows 98. Because WHO USES WIN98 NOWADAYS ANYWAY!

*ahem. Except me. Anyhow, I couldn't be bothered to upgrade lar. Any upgrades/additional features will just slow down the previous previous old old com.

*ahem ahem. Actually, I just checked and yes, I can use the newest version but as I said, I honestly couldn't be bothered because it's just going to slow my com. In fact, in my opinion, the best version of MSN is still the first few versions where there isn't all that annoying nudging and animated emoticons.

2) I was down with a very bad case of suspected food poisoning. Now, food poisoning is usually nothing to me because I'm quite a pro at puking and diarrhea. But the fever. Omg, I'm hardly down with fever. But this time it went up to 39.4 and it was absolutely horrible. But I recovered pretty fast(:

Oh, one funny thing happened while I was sick. I was in the middle of my porridge when one strand of hair (mine) fell into the bowl. I was so grossed out, I said aloud, "I'm so gonna puke". And my dad gave me the please-run-quickly-to-the-toilet-now look because I er, nearly/puked on him a little. But his look! It was priceless. (I'm so sorry dad!)

I'll be going to Korea (South) from 02 June to 09 June. Please tell me if you want to get anything and I'll do my best to get it. Oh, and requests for Korean hunks come with a special fee(:

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging lately. I've been busy... not working. Actually, I've been doing alot of revenge reading and watching. Why revenge? Because, in the past 2 years, I never had time to do any of these until now. And boy, life is sweet(:

So far, I've caught Spiderman 3, which was in my humble opinion, only so-so. The story got a little draggy but the action scenes were good. And I also watched a couple of DVDs like The Beat That My Heart Skipped (French) and The Spanish Apartment (French). Both were good and if you are interested, I can lend you The Beat That My Heart Skipped. (Not The Spanish Apartment though, it is not mine) I rewatched the Matrix trilogies and things made more sense now. And the Korean drama, My Lovely Samsoon, which I really like. It's really cute and funny(:

And I also watched The Phantom Of The Opera with Yip and it was amazing! The set was impressive, it absolutely complimented the talents of the cast. The costumes were beautiful. And all the singing and dancing! And Raoul!(: To sum it up, my dad asked if it was worth the $145 and it is worth every single penny.

And also, thanks to ppx, I got hooked on a new manga, Vampire Knight. It's really funny how I can get easily hooked on something. For example, after bugging ppx to recommend one title to read, I bought the first book of VK and finished it the very same day. The next day, I went out to buy the 3 remaining books and finished it in one afternoon. And then, I went online to read the scanlations for the 5th and 6th book because it is not yet available in Singapore. For the past 2 days, all I did was read VK:S

Sometimes I wonder if celebs are human because they can seem so out of the world. Here are some words of wisdom from Naomi Campbell's recent stint, doing community service at a sanitation building for throwing her mobile phone at her assistant:

"We start sweeping so intently and get a rhythm going. I have to tell you, I find solace in sweeping. I have no other responsibilities. I have no phone. I have time to think. I just have, you know, peace."

"So I keep on sweeping. I'm moving so fast they tell me to slow down. I'm getting very protective of my pile of rubbish—kind of the way I feel about my Hermès handbag or my Louis Vuitton."

Read the complete article here.

One last thing before I begin working on the next batch of photos: I've already accepted fass(:

Christchurch
At Christchurch, we met up with friends who not only helped to show us around but also got some "essentials" for us. New Zealand, like Australia is very strict with regards to the food/beverages that you can bring into their country. I think it has got something to do with them being a (largely) agricultural country. So they are very weary of visitors bringing in any germs or harmful diseases (through food stuffs) that can harm their main industry. As a result, we did not bring any rice, instant noodles or canned food from Singapore. So our friends in nz got them for us instead. Yum!

Christchurch is a beautiful city with many gothic-like buildings. The most famous building/structure/monument is the Christ Church Cathedral:

Sorry, no more photos of the chuch. Photos are allowed inside, but I think you need to buy a photo pass (which I obviously didn't)

The Christ Church Cathedral is situated in Cathedral Square. And in the square itself, there are actually people playing chess with a giant chess set.

My favourite. I can't remembered what it's called though :S

GLOUCESTER! WHAT ART THOU DOING HERE? Haha, anyway, nz is heavily influenced by the British. It's like another Britain.

Trams. Not really in used. Remained as a tourist attraction.

Arts Centre. Very gorgeous place with old buildings (see below). That house like thing with steps leading beyond? It's not an illusion. It's held up by very fine wires that you can't see from the picture. Very cool(:

Arts Centre. What did I say about the architecture? Simply amazing(: Oh, they also had a Sunday Market outdoors featuring local arts and crafts. Luckily we were able to catch it as we were there on a Sunday. I saw a print that I absolutely love but I decided against getting it because it being the first day of our holiday, I thought I'll have ample opportunities to find others. However, after this day, I didn't see any art that was worth getting! I still kick myself for not getting the print):

We also went to the Botanic Gardens (nearby). Now, we aren't exactly "plant" people. But the Botanic Gardens was quite worth it. Plus we went in Summer where the flowers were all in bloom(:

The Botanic Gardens also had a rose garden. And I'm not sure if you can see it, but this rose is called "Lest We Forget Sexy Rexy" :D
Only noob Santas use ladders.

This plant looks really ordinary and boring. But do you know what it's called? RHODODENDRON! Aren't rhodos suppose to be flowers? There weren't any flowers in sight though. And no, don't start reciting Hughes' poem.

New Brighton Beach

Someone did this below the bridge (you can vaguely see from the photo above) Amazing! Armed with nothing but a broom like thingy, he created this huge huge design on the sand. People were watching from the bridge and tossing coins below. I must say though, it was extremely cold. I don't know how he can stand staying in the cold for so long. But I guess, the exercise keeps him warm(:

Can you see a figure at the top of the photo? Use that to gauge the size of this design. Totally cool.

So thats all for Christchurch (for now). We were in Christchurch for about 3 days. We missed the Christchurch Gondola (cable car) and I was pretty bummed about it. But it turns out that there are many other gondolas in other cities (that we took) Also, we didn't go to the Banks Peninsula.

Also, if you are so inclined, check out my Flickr set. All my nz photos will be posted there.

Mount Hutt / Rakaia Gorge
Our first destination in New Zealand was the city of Christchurch. However, our accomodation at Mount Hutt Lodge was not in the city itself, but an hour's drive away. Mount Hutt itself is famous for its ski slopes, but we didn't get to do any skiing because it was summer when we were there. Even though, it was summer, the weather was chilly and the wind there is really strong. I must say that we were all badly prepared for the cold weather.

Anyway...

The view from our apartment at Christchurch. We stayed at this place called Mount Hutt Lodge for the first few nights (3 nights). We were supposed to have a view of Mount Hutt itself, but it was too cloudy to see it.

Mount Hutt

View from our apartment taken on a clear morning

The pool at our apartment. We were asking the owners if the pool is heated, and they replied that the only heat it gets, is from the sun. I can't imagine why anybody would want to swim in it because the weather was already freaking cold in the summer!

Mt Hutt Lodge

That's "our" car! And the door to our apartment is the one behind our car. In case you are wondering, our apartment was actually only one level. And thank goodness for that, because it was not fun having to carry all the luggages up the stairs. (Granted, I don't carry the heavy ones) Considering the fact that thoughout the whole 17 nights, we stayed at 12 different motels, we had to lug our baggage in and out of the car almost every day.

Sheep. I saw more sheep than human beings daily while at South Island. The two things that you get to see in NZ more than anything else? Greenery and sheep(:

The deers are really adorable. For some reason, when our car stopped along the road, the deers all came towards the fence and looked at us. It was as if they were welcoming us to their home(: Oh, picture taken from the car. I would have taken a more close up picture but I accidentally (and stupidly) slammed the car door shut while coming out and all the deers ran away):

Rakaia Gorge. Just below Mt Hutt Lodge.

Rakaia. And no we didn't go into the water. Water was damn cold lar!

Old bridge

Rakaia again. It's gorgeous(:

Ok, next up: Christchurch.

In Transit: Sydney
Ok, I know its been almost 4 months since I'm back from New Zealand but here are the photos. I'm going to just post pictures according to the order I took them and just type my observations(:

Inside Sydney International Airport:
Erm, I remembered we just landed at Sydney after a pretty rough flight from Singapore. We would be in transit for 3 hours at Sydney. This photo was taken at 3.40am (sg time)/ 6.40am (Sydney time). So there we are, grumpy and a litttle out of sorts with cheerful Australians greeting us GOOD MORNING! HOW ARE YOU! WELCOME TO SYDNEY! :S Oh, and I took this photo while waiting for the others to finish brushing their teeth/wash up.

Now, its inevitable that when we Singaporeans (ok, I'm talking about myself) travel, we tend to compare the other airports with our very own Changi Airport, formerly the World's Best Airport. And frankly, Changi Airport is still the best. Because where else can you buy hair clips one hour before your flight? Er, actually, I forgot to pack hair clips and I absolutely needed them. So thank goodness there's MiniBits at Changi. Seriously though, in terms of free internet access, service, speed and efficiency of checking in/clearing customs at arrival, shopping, restaurants, direction signs, security, cleanliness of restrooms, Changi wins hands down. We had problems finding a computer with free internet access at Sydney. And even after we found one, I had to wait for quite a while for there were people waiting to use it, and it was only 56k. And there isn't any free wireless internet at Sydney's Airport, so we couldn't use my brother's laptop):

not believing it all

Ok, this is funny. I'm typing this out on notepad in the office. Because for the first time in who knows how long, I actually have NO work to do! Now, I complain my work is boring and brainless. But recently, there has been an increase in workload but today, there's no work! I'm bored):

Anyhow. Did you know that Gmail pulled an April Fool's prank on its users? It's called Gmail Paper or something like that. Basically, Gmail will supposedly print out copies of your email and send them to you via normal mail. Thing is I actually believed it! And I couldn't stop thinking about it during work. Like Gmail will have to set up regional offices around the world. And then they will hire temps to print, check and fold letters. And those temps will be so poor thing because their job will be so monotonous and boring! But at least they do get to read the letters they fold and get entertained. The contents of the letters I check everyday are the same. I only get a laugh once in a while when I stumble across hilarious names. You have no idea how Singaporean parents hate their kids so much that they will subject them to eternal damnation by giving them horrible names!

Anyway, I only found out it was a joke when ppx told me about it last night.

I am way too gullible for this world!

300 Reasons Why
Yes, I'm still very much alive even though my job is killing my brain cells, because I don't get to use them much in the office. So they die. Of inactivity.

Anyway! I've been busy with many things. And I actually continued blogging. Just that, these entries aren't meant for publishing because I'm way too young to be sued for defamation. Oh, and you wouldn't want to read another of my rants.

I'm also blogging about my New Zealand trip. And they will be up soon. ( I hope.) I'm gonna post my pictures in parts. And contary to what Jia Ling said, the posts will be out before the year's end(:

Oh, and also, this is a little bit late. But I LOVE 300! Greatest. Movie. Of. The. Year. It's not just because there are semi naked, well defined men running across the screen most of the time. The visuals were stunning. The acting was superb. And the effects! So cool! The fighting scenes! And the script! Ok, maybe most of it were from the comic book. Or they can get very corny after a while. But, those are the lines that I can't get out of my head. I wished we had it shown in IMAX in Singapore (just like the US), because the awesomeness of the show will be magnified ... 300 times(: I know this movie attracts the male species more, with the violence and the gore etc, but I LOVE it. (In fact, my co worker, a guy, was surprised that I liked it because... I'm a girl :S)

Ok. Photos soon! I know I've been saying that for 3 months. But soon!

Oh, and I'm quitting at the end of the month. Which makes me jobless and unemployed. Any "lobang"? Job offers?

PS: If you love 300, you should read this blog post (and the comments) It's freaking hilarious(:

Plates that do more than converge, diverge or transform
Overheard in the office during the tremors,

"The first earthquake was 6.6 and the second earthquake was 6.3. That's quite high."

"6663! BUY 4D!"

(Note: There are different magnitudes recorded for the quakes because well, there are different stations recording)

Did you all feel the tremors yesterday? Apparently, my office was one of the areas that experienced tremors. In fact, the people in front of me, behind me, beside me, ALL felt the tremors except me. Everyone was talking about how they can feel the building shake and I honestly didn't feel anything. Which is actually rather disappointing because I've always wanted to experience tremors. I think I "felt" the second tremor, but I'm not sure if it's because I did feel it, or I imagine it. Or maybe I was more awake during the second tremor to feel it -_-''

Anyhow, the night before the earthquakes happened, I was remarking to His Royal Highness that our internet connection was extremely slow and maybe "there's an earthquake somewhere". Eh, what a coincidence.

Even though I think earthquakes are extremely cool (the Geography aspect of it anyway), the truth is earthquakes do bring devastation and tons of secondary effects. So here's hoping, the people affected can get through this period.

Ok, I'm falling sick or rather I've never completely recovered from the previous time I fell sick. And since I finished watching Hana Kimi (LOUSY ENDING), there's no reason for me to have late nights(:

it just gets better better better
The good thing about being an Arts student is that it is so much easier to decide on which course to apply for in a university. Of course, it can be a bad thing in the sense that your choices are limited. But hey, to me, it is a good thing(: Actually, I have already decided on NUS Arts and Social Science (FASS) but my Mom wants me to apply for more in case I can't get in -_-''

I was looking through the courses that NUS is offering and after crossing out those I can't apply for (because I don't take Science subjects), here are the courses I can apply for:
  1. Architecture
  2. Arts and Social Sciences
  3. Business Adminisatration
  4. Computing
  5. Industrial Design
  6. Law
  7. Project and Facilities Management
  8. Real Estate
And after crossing out those that I have absolutely no interest in, here's whats left:
  1. Architecture
  2. Arts and Social Sciences
  3. Business Adminisatration
  4. Law
I can't apply for Law because my GP sucks. I like architecture, but I don't exactly want to study it and I'm not really keen on Biz Ad so... I'm left with FASS(:

See? Easy right(:

Also, I used to regret that I drop Econs instead of say, Maths or Lit. But actually, it was a right decision to drop Econs on account that my Maths and Lit did way above my expectations(:

And if I get into NUS, I have a chauffeur (Hi Royal Highness!) and I can steal borrow His Royal Highness' notes/essays/books etc.

Ok, I gotta go read my mail and the numerous prospectus. Later.

and the moment of truth goes to...
Hey all, the results are out this friday, 2nd March at 2.30pm. (!!!)

Germaine was bugging me the entire day at work to ask Ms Ng. Ms Ng confirmed so I SMSed everyone. Just like that, I sent out 23 SMSes -_- I wanted to use the class relay, but seeing that I can't even remember who to send to, and I am the one who came out with the relay, I decided to personally SMS everyone. So if you didn't get it, please tell me so I can update your number or something...

Anyways, when Ms Ng confirmed that the results are out this Friday, I couldn't think of anything except for my grades. I could not focus on my work and I had a mini panic attack -_-'' And I must emphasise that my work is so boring and so brainless that I can use half my brain to do it while daydreaming/thinking of philosophy/listening to podcasts/music etc. It's that boring -_-'' Nevertheless, my mind just went blank. And my hands were shaking when I SMSed you all. I was so nervous.

These 3 months, post-exams was an amazing, stressless period. Some of you know that I have a nervous disposition and I don't handle stress very well and holy shit, I am so freaking out right now.

Argh, I'm going to watch new episodes of Hana Kimi to stop thinking about Friday.

And, I know its quite impossible to forget about taking the results on Friday, but I'll most likely use the class relay to remind you all on Thursday.

Oh, good luck everyone!(:

just a shamus
Last night, ppx commanded me to blog, so blog I will(:

I know I keep saying I'll upload my nz photos but I never get around to do it. But this week! This week I'll do it(: I've been "busy" watching lots of shows and catching up on this crucial period of life that I've missed. Because, previously, I was too busy Rushing Essays To The Wee Hours Of The Morning to fill my brain with TV fluff. While I do miss school (ever so slightly), the only thing I don't miss? NOT HAVING HOMEWORK!

Where was I? Oh yes, shows and having a life in front of the box. I finished watching Goong (yes, I'm slow) and am currently watching Grey's, Prison Break, Heroes and Hana Kimi (Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu) on youtube. Even though, Ella is extremely painful to watch on Hana Kimi, and the guys arent really my type, I'm addicted to the show because its insanely hilarious(:

Oh, and I also watched The Protege last week and it was not bad. Although ppx's drooling when Daniel Wu came on was rather distracting;) And I caught Daisy (the Korean movie) last night, and i love it(:

In addition, I also spent Chinese New Year getting rich. Er, I meant catching up with family(: Now, I usually don't like kids, but on both days, I actually enjoyed myself having kids around, even though my cousin Darryl couldn't stop licking me -_-'''

Ok, update when the photos are ready. (Soon I hope)

get out of it
I have a tough decision to make: Fall Out Boy or Phantom of the Opera? I only have money for one. Anyone's going for fob? I know Germaine and Yip wants to go for Phantom... Hmm.

Anyway, I recently found out that many people in my workplace thought that I was waiting for my O Level results. For the entire last week, at least five people came to talk to me with regards to the release of the O Level results on Friday. Which is quite funny (and annoying) to say the least. I do know I don't look anywhere near 19 even though I'm the oldest amongst my friends. Maybe its because I dress extremely sloppily to work or that I barely/don't put on any make up to work. But seriously, the choice between extra sleeping time and making myself look "better" is obvious. I have SO much problems getting up every morning that sometimes I leave the house without combing my hair because I simply do not have any time. (I do it in the lift or while walking/running to the shuttle) Lol.

I recently finished reading Life Of Pi and its an excellent book. The writing is brilliant and the plot is extremely addictive. Highly recommended. I actually believed that the events in the book were true until His Royal Highness said "most likely not lar". Plus, you should never doubt His Royal Highness(:

Since I started working, I made the decision to start buying original music since the excuse of "I'm just a poor student who cannot afford originals" had ceased to exist. So, I have been listening to the Grey's Anatomy Soundtrack (absolutely brilliant) and My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade. Well, I only liked a few songs of MCR's previous album so I wasn't exactly very thrilled or bothered much when I heard they were releasing a new album last year. Plus, it was during the exam period. That was before I went to New Zealand. The cool thing about NZ is that they have a rock radio station and we listened to it nonstop when we were in nz. (Singapore should have a rock radio station too, but I digress) Anyways, the station played "Welcome to the Black Parade" and I got so hooked, I came back to Singapore and bought it. The album's really really good. And the fun thing is that I have a tendency to erm, groove to the songs at work, which is terribly out of place at work(:

Ok, nothing interesting in my life except for work (BORING) But Germaine just started work on Friday at my workplace so things might just start to get a little fun. But nah, I doubt it. Lol. I'm out(:

The most interesting thing I did at work today
I pressed the Backspace key on my keyboard for 10 minutes to delete 16 pages worth of text. Word by word, one by one. Why didn't I just highlight the 16 pages and delete all at one go?

Here's why.

It was 10 minutes to lunch and I so did not want to start on a new piece of work (and hence spend my lunchtime doing it)

I'm serious. Work has made me extremely calculative (and closer to become a lunatic)

Well in retrospect, the ten minutes before lunch/before I head out of the office is the most productive and unproductive period.

On one hand if I have a lot of work to do, I MUST finish all of it by the time I leave, hence the ten minutes become the most efficient time period of the day. On the other hand, if there's ten minutes left and I have absolutely nothing to do, I'll make sure I drag my workload out such that it can last for ten minutes.

Anyhow, no matter the workload, the time or any other factor, I miraculously finish everything and am out of the office before anyone can pile more work(:

Speaking of being calculative, the other day some guy approached me at City Link saying that his ATM card got stuck in the machine, he has no money to go home and he would like to borrow $4. Maybe he really did have no money to go home but I never NEVER give out money to strangers. Or "charities" for that matter. I mumbled something about not having any small change and left. Apart from the fact that $4=48 minutes of work (minus CPF) or $5 (with CPF), wouldn't it be better to approach the MRT staff?

Would you have given him the $4? I know Jia Ling would(:
